Based on some of the official comments from the LDS Church since the election, it appears that the church has been surprised by the negative publicity that they have experienced and continue to experience because of the LDS Church's position on marriage equality. <br> <br>you throw that amount of resources at a political campaign--as the LDS Church did in the Proposition 8 campaign-- It is not surprising that there is some backlash given the substantial efforts that the LDS (Mormon) Church placed in passing Proposition 8 in California.
