Submitted by admin on December 8, 2009 – 5:42 pmComments

By a vote 7-6, New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee gave marriage equality advocates a first round victory last night at 10pm.

Steven Goldstein, executive director of Garden State for Equality spoke to an excited group afterwards proclaiming, “The marriage equality movement in America starts again right here.” The crowd replied back, “Right Here!”

The bill heads to the Senate for a vote on Thursday, December 11th, where it will be a close but possible victory to be scored.
